In 2005, the Local Service System Committee for Children Services in Sudbury Manitoulin was established by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services. A priority of this planning group in 2007 was the restructuring of Children's developmental services including respite services for children and families.
The re-development of Children's Respite Services will be completed by April, 2008 and will include an expanded range of options available to children and families.
The Sudbury Manitoulin Adult Developmental Service System is committed to the provision of a quality continuum of services achieved through cooperation, collaboration and planning. Service Coordination operated by YWCA Sudbury is the first point for individuals and families seeking adult developmental services. The agencies in the Districts of Sudbury Manitoulin deliver a wide range of voluntary services funded by the Ministry of Community and Social Services. These services include community support programs to help people live on their own or with some help in the community; residential programs; day programs, programs people participate in the community; and respite services for families.
