Network Agency Respite Options

Below you will find listed Toronto area respite options available to your family. You may contact agencies directly or contact Intake and Information for assistance with respite planning.

This list is not exhaustive and other respite options and programs may exist.  Some additional options are listed on the Resources page.

Admission Criteria : Respite services are provided to children & youth- newborn to 18 years of age with complex medical, physical and/or developmental disabilities.

Safehaven provides respite to children with the following care needs (but not limited to):
-G/J tube
-Ketogenic diet and other dietary requirements
-Seizures
-Visual and/or hearing impairment
-Acquired brain injury
-Oxygen
-Catheterization
-Mace/Mitrofanoff

Safehaven has access to limited nursing funding to support children who require the following (but not limited to):
-Deep suctioning
-PICC line
-Tracheotomy Care

Activities : Safehaven provides out-of-home respite which aims to offer an enriching experience for children with complex needs. Safehaven's respite program has a clear focus on community participation, inclusion and recreational programming, while enabling the child's family/guardian to take a break from their constant caring role.
Activities include but are not limited to:
-pet therapy
-music therapy
-tactile and sensory arts and crafts and games
-community outings
-swimming
-Snoezelen room
Comments : Ability to pay is NEVER a barrier to service.
