Ontario Child Benefit

The Ontario Child Benefit provides direct financial support to low to moderate income families – whether they are working or not. It helps parents with the cost of raising their children.

The Ontario Child Benefit supports about one million children in over 500,000 families. It provides a maximum payment of $1,356 per child per year.

Your eligibility for the program is based on the number of children under age 18 in your family and your family net income. You may be eligible for the Ontario Child Benefit if you:
1) Have a child under 18 years old and are in a low-income family;
2) Have filed your income tax return, and so has your spouse or common law partner;
3) Are registered for the federal Canada Child Tax Benefit;
4) Are a resident of Ontario.
