Family/Individual Information

The Respite Program Database is a database of qualified, experienced respite workers and families/individuals who are seeking support. Many respite workers on our database are students or recent graduates who join respiteservics.com to gain valuable work experience. Respite workers vary in experience, skill sets, and availability, and should not be considered trained therapists. Our database is updated regularly as we recruit new workers and families find successful matches.

Respite workers are suitable for part-time parent/caregiver relief, in the family home or in the community. This may include one to one support in the community and assisting families to implement recommendations made by qualified therapists (e.g. Speech Language Pathologist or Occupational Therapist).

Respite workers are not employees of the Respite Program Database, respiteservices.com or Cape Breton Community Respite. Families/individuals accessing the database contract the Respite worker directly. All Respite workers have submitted an application outlining their experience, interests and availability, as well as a resume which are reviewed during a personal interview. Each respite worker also has a Police Reference Check conducted, 3 references checked and has attended an orientation session to the Respite Registry Program.

There is no charge for the use of the Respite Registry Program.
