Passport

Passport is a program that helps people with a developmental disability live as independently as possible in their communities.

Individuals with a developmental disability (or their families) can apply for funding to support their personal development and growth. They can use the money to pay for activities to help them:

  • grow personally
  • participate in community programs
  • develop work and volunteer skills
  • create their own life plans
  • reach their goals.

With Passport funding, individuals and families can:

  • receive money directly so they can purchase their own services and supports
  • get services and supports through community-based agencies
  • get services and supports through a combination of both.

Who can apply for Passport funding

Passport funding is for people with a developmental disability who:

  • are no longer in school
  • need support to participate in the community
  • live independently with family or in supportive living, such as a group home.

How to apply

Contact Developmental Services Ontario to apply. If you’re eligible, staff there will help you complete a developmental services application package to assess your needs and connect you with services and supports as they become available.
