About Us

respiteservices.com is funded by the Ministry of Children, Community, and Social Services. We are collaborating to develop a more dynamic support network for both children and adults in Durham Region.

“respiteservices.com working together to facilitate respite options that empower individuals with differing abilities and their families to lead active and rewarding lives.”

“Creating Community Connections”

The guiding principles of respiteservices.com are:

1. To develop a comprehensive support system in Durham Region.
2. To develop and maintain a coherent access process for families of children and adults requiring support options.

Support, which can be part-time, temporary or occasional, provided to families caring for a son/daughter/sibling with a developmental and/or physical disability.  Support creates greater opportunities for all family members to live actively, participate in community activities and build an ordinary life. To learn more, contact the Coordinator,
Sandy Ciarlariello.

Families must be registered with respiteservices.com in order to receive support worker profiles.

Support Worker - CHAP Program

The Support Worker - CHAP Program aims to attract people interested in adding value and meaning to their lives by accompanying people with a developmental disability including autism and/or a physical disability and their families. Families in receipt of individually tailored Ministry Funding (ie. SSAH) can work in partnership with interested and engaged supporters to develop meaningful and valued societal participation. The Coordinator for the CHAP program is Sandy Ciarlariello.
