Home and Vehicle Modification Program , March of Dimes Canada
The Home & Vehicle Modification® Program was established by the Government of Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services in 1999. It is administered by March of Dimes Canada. March of Dimes Canada's Home & Vehicle Modification® Program provides funding for basic home and/or vehicle modifications. The program is intended to assist permanent Ontario residents with a substantial impairment expected to last one year or more. By reducing or eliminating life safety risks, these modifications enable children and adults with mobility restrictions to continue living in their homes, avoid job loss and participate in their communities. As there is limited funding, we encourage applicants to first access any other sources of available public or private funding before applying to this program. Consumers who meet program criteria can apply for grant funding: Up to $15,000 lifetime maximum for home modifications Up to $15,000 every ten years for vehicle modifications |

Find Your Voice Music Therapy
Find Your Voice Music Therapy is a mobile service offering group and individual music therapy sessions within facilities and private homes in the Kingston area. Music therapy is the intentional application of music to achieve clinical and therapeutic goals. Some common goals within respite care can include: enhancing positive moods and relaxation, managing pain and decreasing symptoms of anxiety and depression. Music therapy programs are personalized to a client’s musical preferences and structured to achieve the individual’s therapeutic goals. It is also important to note that an expertise in music is not required to benefit from music therapy. Music therapists are focusing on the process of the music, not the product, to bring about positive change. Music therapy can also benefit the caregiver as they are able to use this time to enhance their own self care or manage personal affairs. Book a free 30 minute consultation to learn more about how music therapy can enhance quality of life in respite care. |

Jan Rowe, Planning Facilitator
I have had many years of planning experience as an Independent Facilitator working with individuals through Agency and Ministry referrals. Being fortunate to have worked in several of the Ministry of Community and Social Services Facility initiatives, I was able to help people when leaving institutions to create futures in their home communities. Encouraging people to recognize and seek their full potential is so rewarding. Some factors that I feel are important to effective planning include: -respecting everyone involved in the planning process -listening to the wishes and dreams of the person planning -guiding the person in the direction they wish to go and finding a way to make their goals and dreams a reality -encouraging the person to stretch their abilities I enjoy what I do and think outside the box. I believe that honest two way dialogue is essential to all involved. Together with the individual and their family we can create a meaningful future! |
