The guiding principles of respiteservices.com are:

Respite Care is a family support service that provides temporary relief from the physical and emotional demands involved in caring for a family member who has a disability. Respite creates greater opportunities for all family members to live actively and participate in community activities and allows parents/guardians time for themselves.

Families are required to participate in an intake process with the appropriate agency prior to qualifying for service. Staff are available to provide support with planning for respite on behalf of families in the districts of Muskoka, Parry Sound and Nipissing. Coordination includes assisting families with the respite planning, funding, applications, contacting agencies, development of respite options and assisting to connect them with Respite Providers

CHAP Service:

The CHAP (Community Helpers for Active Participation) Program is an integral part of respiteservices.com.

CHAP recruits a large base of Respite Providers interested in supporting persons with developmental disabilities including autism and/or physical disabilities to provide meaningful activities through community based options. Families are able to connect with Respite Providers to fulfill their respite needs.
