Respite Options in Waterloo Region

In Waterloo Region, nine developmental service agencies offer a variety of respite programs, both in-home and out-of-home. These programs serve people of varying ages with a variety of different needs and interests. For more information on what each respite program offers, please click on the Respite Option link provided.

Program Title : Summer Respite
Program Time : During July and August.
Program Runs from : Summers
Program Length : Respite is available for one-week intervals.
Program Cost : Negotiated directly with family.
Admission Criteria : Individuals must have a developmental disability as confirmed through the DSO.
Activities : Support is provided to develop/enhance independent living skills as well as recreational, leisure, and social opportunities.
Comments : Summer Respite is available for a maximum of one week in the summer period of July or August. Contact the Developmental Services Ontario office to apply for summer respite.
Disability / Special Needs : CPR, Crisis Prevention & Intervention (CPI), Developmental Disability, First Aid, Personal Care (toileting, diapering), Physical Disability, Seizures
