Respite Options in Waterloo Region

In Waterloo Region, nine developmental service agencies offer a variety of respite programs, both in-home and out-of-home. These programs serve people of varying ages with a variety of different needs and interests. General Information : Respite provides care for developmentally challenged individuals who still live with their families. It provides the individual with a change of scenery in a loving environment and gives the caregivers a short break from the 24-hour care that they give. Respite keeps families living together longer.

We provide respite for over 100 families annually.
Eligibility : Individuals must be at least four years of age in order to participate in our respite programs. Individuals must have a confirmed diagnosis of a developmental disability.
