In Waterloo Region, nine developmental service agencies offer a variety of respite programs, both in-home and out-of-home. These programs serve people of varying ages with a variety of different needs and interests. Aldaview Services provides two types of respite programs. The Summer Opportunities and March Break programs are a day camp for students in high school. The program is run Monday to Friday throughout the summer months and during March Break. This program allows the students to receive support when they are not able to attend school. Referrals for both these programs are accepted from families, individuals, the Waterloo Regional School and Separate School Boards as well as the Developmental Services Resource Centre, Waterloo Region and Developmental Services Ontario, Waterloo Region. Aldaview also provides emergency and planned respite care within one of the 24 hour supported homes and day programs on a fee for service basis. Respite is available for families who require respite either during the week or weekends. Respite must be booked through the respite contact person.
