Respite Options in Waterloo Region

In Waterloo Region, nine developmental service agencies offer a variety of respite programs, both in-home and out-of-home. These programs serve people of varying ages with a variety of different needs and interests. General Information :	K-W Habilitation 99 Ottawa Street, South Kitchener N2G 3S8 K-W Habilitation offers respite services at a non-residential setting at 115 University Ave. East, Waterloo. The length of visits varies and is determined on an individual basis. The fee charged for a visit is the responsibilty of the caregiver. Dates for Weekend Respite are determined on an annual basis and booked on a quarterly basis. Respite services may be accessed by first ensuring the child who requires respite care is registered with the Developmental Services Resource Centre (DSRC). Their referral package is then forwarded to K-W Habilitation. Arrangements will then be made for a tour and further information will be shared to ensure suitability of service and support needs. Location of Respite Site: KW Habilitation Services, 115 University Ave., Waterloo Annual Schedule: Yearly Length of respite: Weekends Who Is Served: Children aged 6 to 17 years with a diagnosed developmental delay Nearest Intersection: University and Weber, Waterloo Cost of Participation: $100.00 per weekend Original referrals come from Developmental Services Resource Centre Comments: Families choose their preferred weekends (one weekend per month) on an annual basis and confirmed on a quarterly basis. Scheduled community activities and outings are based on the interests and needs of the children in attendance.
