Admission Criteria :
|
Caregivers supporting a child (0-18) with physical, developmental or mental health needs and living in Perth County are eligible for out of home respite service.
|
|
Activities :
|
The host family welcomes a child with a disability into their home for short term stays. Weekend and summer visits are the most popular, but any visit period can be arranged with the agreement of both families. The child will participate in regular family activiites, as well as activities planned according to individual interests.

Comments :
|
Respite Providers who provide service in their own homes will participate and successfully complete a screening/homestudy process. Anyone in the home over the age of 18 is required to produce a Vulnerable Sector Check. As well, the Providers receive orientation and ongoing training and support. Providers are self-employed, and contracted with Family Services Perth-Huron.
