Description of Individual : | A 9 year old boy who is an energetic sensory seeker. His receptive language is very good but has struggles with expressive language. He is minimally verbal and is beginning to use his AAC device more, but usually needs prompting. He is generally a happy boy who recently has been struggling with self-regulation. This is resulting in SIBs and aggression towards adults usually when denied access to something he wants or when having to wait for something preferred. We will share our safety plan and strategies that we use. He loves people games (tickles, dancing, rocking, spinning ect) as well as trampoline time, water play and cause and effect toys. Enjoys watching Thomas the train, Paw Patrol and Harry and his bucketful of dinosaurs. |
Worker's Role : | Provide support within the home while parents go out, or in the community ie to splash pad, park, indoor trampoline place and indoor playground. Assist with daily living skills (ie toileting) and help increase his independence level within various daily skills. Most importantly…Have FUN!! Someone who is physically capable and can actively participate in the physical activities Sebastian enjoys is very important. |
Availability : | Would like someone who has some flexibility to take Sebastian out in the community and/or stay home while parents go out for a few hours, possibly once or twice a week; weeknight or weekend. Description of Individual : | Male Tall and rather heavy set. Very slow and lacking balance when moving. Happy to have company Not very talkative. If so, is likely to talk about things not relevant to you or context in general. Delusional, but not at all aggressive. Non confrontational. Driven by fears. Passing for being a gentle soul and a listener when in fact unable to relate to someone else's reality and afraid to have one turn against him. Take him along to do anything and he will follow. Needs to be engaged into action, like going for a walk, doing errands, otherwise stays put at home. Watches TV but barely listens to comments. Will only listen to music, the only thing that seems to enable him to disconnect from inside monologues. Not active in any way, but hyper active in his head with circular repetitive intrusive thoughts. (Same ideas for years). Likes music very much. Always very gentle and kind person. No agressivity, whatsoever and very cooperative. |
Worker's Role : | Help P. with cleanup at home, grocery shopping, transit training and take him outside of his apartment. Engage P. into action. For practical and health reasons, get him out of his seat and to move and do things. Take him by the hand (almost literally!) and he will follow. |
